Signs that the world is ending

We live in remarkable times. Here are some signs that the End of the World may be at hand.

pigs flying

Pigs fly.

More surprising than that:

Hell frozen over

Hell freezes over.

Moreover:

blue moon

It really is once in a Blue Moon.

And, most surprising of all:

Cardinal Nichols

Vincent Nichols is appointed Cardinal.

Congratulations, your Eminence.

♬ God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm. ♬
mighty waves

God, moving in a mysterious way.

Since we have already blogged on Vincent Nichols's irresistible rise, there is no more to be said now.

  2. Dear Sir,

Your amateur signs and portents confirm our findings. Here at the End of the World Research Centre, deep in an underground bunker beneath Roehampton University, we are shutting down the computers and abandoning the project. We live and learn: never site an underground apocalyptic monitoring bunker in a floodplain.

  3. I agree Eccles, the world is definitely ending - imagine, it's Sunday morning and I wake at 5am and cannot get back to sleep. I'm really tired on my day-off. It's the very end.

  4. I heard that Nichols sent an sms thanking Pope Benedict XVI for his appointment.

  5. Our "traddie" church celebrated The Epiphany today 12th January even though the Sunday is for The Holy Family. Now there's a real mystery for you.

  6. As your good self was (were? wuz?) not listed Eccles, I conclude that it was of the in pectore variety, right? You don’t have to answer that – papal secrecy, and all that.

But it will be revealed in time – or the end times which, apparently, are right around the corner…

  8. Also, I've just read that Muller will also be made a Cardinal. It's not all bad then. I don't recognise the others.

    1. Yup, Muller's appointment looks good: it's certainly upset Tony Flannery, as it is a vote of confidence in wot the CDF is doing.

  9. I have it on no authority that, while the Pope, mea culpa, his bishopness of rome, with a little r so as not to ovewhelm the ome with Rlllly ambition, is not the most important VIP at Martha's House. I know, hard to believe, but apparently the antichrist checked in just yesterday. he and the bishop formerly known as the artist called george, have brushed best dressed men clothes in the lift, and the fly who was not on the wall says that the buzz is that they two both agree. the world is ending. the antichrist wanted to wager that the Church would end first, but apparently the bishop was somewhat annoyed, as he was certain it already had.

    1. You need to translate "mea culpa" because the pope can't read your Latin.

  10. I is saved, but I am also amazed at these clear signs of the End Times. Lawks. I made a comment on Fr Z's blog to this effect, but he took it down.

  11. phillippa, Fr Z, who is saved as well, most certainly, and I have no authority to be saying so, knows that the world is ending too, but his superiors, and I have no authority to be saying so, don't want the word to get out, as there may be mass hysteria...like the one too many of us encounter of a Sunday, but I don't really mean that. By the way, I is sometimes saved, depending on how charitable the mirror is.
